2006-03-24 iippo: What a welcome surprise this text is!! I came to WC today to find an inspiration for something to doodle on the computer's art program, thinking that I'd like to do a landscape. I pressed 'random writing' and came to your top page. Just for the heck of it I clicked this link, short story, thinking it might be inspirational. And it was perfect! Thank you very much! If I end up making a finished piece, I will dedicate it to you. [Sheri1969]: 347.Short Story

Chances are, you yourself, have worn perfume or cologne at some point in time, unless you are allergic to it somehow. And we all have our reasons for wearing perfumes. For some, it is to attract a mate, for others it is to boost their self-confidenc
Perfumes can be very pricy. Things like Oscar de la Rente, Celine Dion, Cher and other top names for perfumes, can cost a bundle and all you get is a small 4 or 8 ounce bottle! Others are purchased at a more reasonable cost, such as Navy, any of the Avon perfumes and of we could not leave out the popular copycats. Perfume need not be pricy for them to smell wonderful.
I like to wear perfume. I like to smell pretty because it makes me smell as pretty as I feel for that day. It is an esteem booster and a conversation starter. Many people will stop and ask you what perfume you are wearing and where you got it, starting a conversation. But mostly I wear perfume because I like the smell of what I put on.
No matter who wears perfume, whether it is costly or reasonable, or what the scent is, there is a perfume we often ignore. It is a priceless perfume, offered to us everyday of our life and at no cost. It is God’s perfume.
Most perfumes come in glass containers, some fancy, some just a simple glass bottle. But God’s perfume comes wrapped up for us. God’s perfume is not poured into a bottle that will eventually sour or run out. Instead it is enveloped in soft velvet petals of red, lilac, pink and other colours of beauty.
God’s perfume comes in the forms of roses, lilac bushes, lilies, pine trees, honeycombs, and the fresh breeze blowing off the lake. He not only gives His perfume away, He wraps each one up in its own little gift box, be it a flower or a tree, or a honeycomb. It never sours, it never runs out, and it costs you nothing but a breath.
Another wonderful thing about God’s perfume, is that when the seasons change, so does the perfume. In the Spring we have the opening of flowers and trees. There is a chill in the air but the air is fresh and refreshing. When Summer comes, we smell the water while we sunbathe on the beach. We can go around and smell all the beautiful flowers of God’s creation from roses and lilac bushes to pine trees and lilies. When Fall is suddenly upon us, we can smell the fallen, damp leaves on the ground and the fresh cut grass. When old man winter hits, we smell the cool mint air that God breathes upon us. We smell the firewood of the fireplaces of those who cozy up by the fire. God is always giving us new perfumes at no cost or participation on our part.
God offers us many blessings, including the ones of people who have invented wonderful perfumes and colognes for us to wear. But one of His most wonderful blessings is that of a never ending line of perfumes to be inhaled and indulged in everyday, every season, every year.
It will not sour, it will not break, it will not need replacing, there is no need of air fresheners, and there are no complications in choosing a brand. All you need to do is step outside your door, take a deep breath and indulge in God’s perfume. Indulge yourself today. Go outside and see what perfumes God has sent to you for today.
Many thank yous, may the Lord always bless you like He blessed me right now with this beautiful text.
